The Response to a Concern about Abuse or Neglect

In September 2024, Section 2, The duty to make (or cause to be made) an Enquiry was updated to clarify that as long as the requirements set out in Section 42 of the Care Act are met, the local authority must make (or cause to be made) whatever enquiries it thinks are necessary to enable it to decide whether any action should be taken and, if so, what and by whom.  

Identifying and Reporting Abuse and Neglect

In September 2024, Section 3, Reporting Abuse was updated to clarify the circumstances when consent to raise a concern can be overridden.

In August 2024, Section 1, What is a Direct Payment? was amended to include information about promoting Direct Payments and the information and advice that should be provided. Section 8, Reviewing a Direct Payment was also amended to include information about its purpose.
